The Highway/Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of county highways and bridges. This includes design, inspections, cost estimates, road vacations, competitive bidding, budgeting, public hearings and surveying as required. In addition, the Office manages all data collection, maintenance and construction at the closed landfill as required by the I.E.P.A.
Maintenance:Â 232 miles of county roads.

Types and Categories of Records: Highway and bridge special provisions and plans, highway and bridge inspection reports, data collection required by the E.P.A./Air & Land, storm water calculations and plans, budget/budget status reports, some audits, contracts, office correspondence, policies/codified ordinances, open minutes of regular and special meetings of the Public Works Committee, claims and payroll information unless exempt from the Freedom of Information’ Act.
