DHS Secretary Mullin and Transportation Secretary Duffy announced a nationwide initiative to target commercial driver's license fraud. The Department of Transportation issued an emergency order shutting down 110 truck-driving schools for safety violations. The agency also removed 160 training providers that failed to meet federal standards. These schools allegedly lacked adequate examination space, used unlicensed instructors, and failed to maintain testing records. Mullin stated that Operation Highway Shield has already removed 800 dangerous truckers from American roads. Duffy noted that the emergency closures targeted schools responsible for thousands of English proficiency violations.
