Federal Officials and Congress Designate April as National Community College Month
Education Secretary McMahon and Labor Secretary LCD issued a joint proclamation recognizing April as National Community College Month. The officials described these institutions as engines of economic growth that prepare students for the workforce. Secretary McMahon also shared her pride in the designation, which honors the more than 1,000 community colleges across the United States. Legislative efforts followed the executive proclamation. The Senate passed a bipartisan resolution to officially name April as Community College Month. In the House, Representative Courtney introduced a similar resolution to recognize the $900 billion economic impact of these schools. These measures celebrate the affordable education and job training provided to millions of Americans.
