Key Points

Congress is creating a new group called the Veterans Advisory Committee on Equal Access to help the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) better serve people with disabilities.
The committee will have 15 members, including four veterans with disabilities and experts who understand how to make buildings and technology accessible.
This group will look for ways to improve VA websites, physical offices, and health care programs so that veterans with mobility, vision, hearing, or mental health challenges can use them easily.
The committee will also make sure the VA follows federal laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act and will recommend new rules to fix any barriers veterans face.
Every two years, the committee will release a public report explaining what the VA is doing well and where it still needs to improve its services for disabled veterans.
