Key Points

• This bill requires colleges to share more detailed information about how long it takes their students to graduate. Currently, many schools only report data for full-time students who are starting college for the first time, leaving out millions of others.
• Colleges would have to track graduation rates for four specific groups: first-time full-time students, first-time part-time students, full-time transfer students, and part-time transfer students. This helps show how well a school supports all types of learners.
• The data would show how many students finish on time, as well as those who take longer. It tracks completion at the normal time, 150 percent of that time, 200 percent, and 300 percent. For a typical four-year degree, this means showing who finishes in 4, 6, 8, or 12 years.
• The Department of Education would be required to display these percentages clearly and give them equal visibility. This makes it easier for families to compare schools and understand the realistic timeline for finishing a degree at a specific institution.
