• This bill would make the Freedom Flag the official national symbol to remember the September 11 terrorist attacks. The flag was created shortly after the attacks to honor victims and first responders. It uses specific colors and shapes to represent the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the lives lost on the four hijacked planes.
• If passed, the flag would be required to fly every year from September 11 through the end of the month at major government locations. These include the White House, the U.S. Capitol, national cemeteries, and every post office in the country. It would also be displayed at major military bases and certain department headquarters.

• The Freedom Flag would have a specific place in the order of importance for flags. It would fly right after the POW/MIA flag. When the flags are old or damaged, they would be retired and disposed of following the same respectful rules used by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
