Key Points

• This bill creates a new grant program to help schools buy and install equipment for storing and serving milk. Schools could use the money for large refrigerators or milk dispensers that pour milk directly into cups.
• The government would provide 4 million dollars every year from 2027 through 2031 to fund these upgrades. Local school districts, tribal organizations, and school food groups would be eligible to apply for the money.
• The federal government will pay for up to 75 percent of the cost for the new equipment. Schools or local groups would need to find other ways to pay for the remaining 25 percent of the project.
• This plan aims to keep milk at the right temperature so it stays fresh and tastes better for students. Better storage could also help schools reduce waste from individual milk cartons by using bulk dispensers instead.
