• Possessing a dietary supplement with a banned ingredient would no longer automatically count as drug abuse under military law, protecting service members from one of the most serious charges they can face. This does not apply to actual controlled substances.
• Service members are protected under a 'good faith standard' if they unknowingly used a banned ingredient, bought the supplement at a military store, or relied on a flawed search of the official list due to misspellings or name variations.
• The Defense Department must upgrade its Operation Supplement Safety website within one year, adding AI tools that can scan product labels, better search features, and a notification system that alerts users when new ingredients are added to the banned list.
