Key Points

• This bill creates a new tax credit for teachers who spend extra time tutoring students. Teachers could get a $500 tax credit if they provide at least 150 hours of tutoring in a single year.
• To qualify, a person must be a licensed teacher at a preschool, elementary, or high school. The tutoring must happen outside of normal school hours and focus on math, science, reading, or writing.

• If passed, the credit would start for the 2026 tax year. This is a temporary program that is currently set to end after the year 2032.
