This bill creates a new grant program to help veterans, people leaving the military, and their spouses get jobs in the energy industry. The Labor Department would give money to companies that hire these individuals for roles in fields like solar, wind, nuclear power, and battery manufacturing.
Companies can receive up to $10,000 for every eligible person they hire, with a total limit of $500,000 per company each year. This money is meant to cover the costs of training, getting licenses, moving, and recruiting new employees.
The program would provide $60 million in funding every year from 2026 through 2031. To make sure the money is being used well, companies must report back on how much they pay these employees and whether they stay on the job.
Special preference for these jobs would be given to small businesses and people living in "opportunity zones," which are areas that need more economic investment. It also prioritizes veterans with disabilities or those who are currently homeless.
