Key Points

This bill requires the federal government to only buy and fly American flags that are completely made in the United States. This means every part of the flag, including the fabric and the thread, must be produced and put together within the country.
The rule applies to all branches of the federal government, the military, and the District of Columbia. It covers flags flown at federal buildings, national parks, and military bases, but it does not apply to flags owned or displayed by private citizens or businesses.
The government would have to stop buying foreign-made flags 90 days after the bill becomes law. Federal agencies would then have two years to make sure every flag they display meets the new 100 percent American-made requirement.
The Federal Trade Commission would be required to study how well current labels on flags are working. They will look into how often companies lie about where flags are made and suggest ways to better punish those who break the rules.
