What key changes should voters know about?
Beginning March 26, you must provide documentary proof of citizenship when you register to vote in order to participate in non-federal elections. If you do not provide documentary proof of citizenship when you register, you may only vote in federal elections for president, US Senate, and US House of Representatives. This is due to a new law in South Dakota. Visit the South Dakota Secretary of State website or contact your local election office to learn more.
