FBI Charges Mexican National for Illegal Drone Flight Over Dallas Stadium
Federal authorities have filed charges against a Mexican national for illegal drone operation in protected airspace. Cristobal Torres Alvarez was arrested for operating a drone over Dallas Stadium during a FIFA World Cup match. Officials say he flew an unregistered DJI Mini 4 PRO while a Temporary Flight Restriction was in effect. He did not have the required pilot certification or waivers to fly in the restricted zone. This enforcement action is part of a massive security operation where the FBI has seized more than 600 drones across all 11 host cities in the United States during the tournament.
